Urban Art has now become not only a welcome part of our modern landscape, but integral to the nationwide regeneration of our towns and cities.
We have a wealth of experience in the consultations and partnerships between Landscape Architects, Arts and Regeneration Officers, Local Authority Departments, residents and businesses to provide Urban Art which is not only imaginative and meaningful to the local community, but high profile, adding real value to any regeneration programme.
Our talented team of Artists bring concepts to life, offering highly original and innovative designs, whilst working within budget specifications and using our knowledge of materials best suited to the project.

FLEETWOOD ARCH
Rourkes designed and created this 4 mtrs high arch at
Fleetwood Wetland Nature Park, commissioned by the Ranger Service of Lancashire County Council. The arch can be seen from a distance and the idea is that when people and children get closer they will find
a selection of different local
creatures on it, and perhaps find something new each time they visit.
If you zoom in you might find a few small creatures on it!
There are spiders, dragonflies, frogs, birds, a snail, caterpillars and lizards. The main stems are based on the local reed beds. The path will soon extend further to Freeport. |

MILLGATE DEVELOPMENT
Rourkes was recently commissioned by RPS and Taylor Wimpey to provide two sculptures to grace the entrance to their latest residential redevelopment at Crescent Road in Bolton. Because of the areas long and rich history with the textile industry, the sculptures were designed to represent bobbins wound with thread. The matt finish stainless steel sculptures were designed, fabricated and fitted by Rourkes in 2008.

BRIDGWATER ROPE SCULPTURE
This sculpture, standing almost four metres high and weighing more than two tonnes, was commissioned as part of an overall 'rope' theme of a two mile walk which leads from the 'Old Town' to the 'New Town' in Bridgwater, Somerset. In addition to the main rope sculpture, Rourkes also designed and fabricated benches, litter bins and directional posts, all of which tied in to the 'rope' theme. This sculpture was the winner of the Gold Award in the 'Ernest Wiemann' Top Job Awards in 2000. |

TRAWDEN PRIMARY SCHOOL
The Headmaster at Trawden Primary School wanted to reproduce children's drawings of a tree and animals into a large sculpture outside the school. The resulting sculpture, which measures over seven metres tall, was fabricated in several sections and fitted onto the exterior of the school entrance. The decision was to leave the galvanised steel as the finish, giving it a distinctive look and guaranteeing it to be virtually maintenance free. |

STONE SCULPTURE
Hand sculpted by one of our associate sculptors, this slightly larger than life size otter greets visitors to the entrance of a new Cumbrian Homes development near Penrith. The sculpture is carved from one piece of stone measuring approximately 1m x 1m x 1.2m. The final design was agreed between the client, Rourke's Design Team and our sculptor, Martyn. |

TOURISM MESSAGE BOARDS
Rourkes recently designed and manufactured a new range of eye-catching tourism message boards which have been installed at various locations around Burnley and Padiham. The design showcases some of the activities and tourist attractions available in the area. Fabricated from aluminium, the weather-proof message boards were painted in both a black and a silver version and feature vandal-resistant locks on the 'swing open' door. |

PLAYGROUND FENCING
A council estate in Burnley has been improved by Lancashire County Council to include the construction of a fenced in play area for the children. Rourkes was selected to fabricate and install the fencing and gates surrounding the play area, along with two colourful signs shaped like trees. An in-house artist at Rourkes hand painted the laser cut three dimensional scenes resulting in an attractive display aimed to enthrall children and adults alike whilst keeping them safe and secure. |
